Welcome to Battalion Fitness! I’m Shayne, and I want to share my personal journey with you. A few years ago, life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) after a back injury. The pain was relentless, and I found myself relying on over 20 tablets a day just to get through a normal day.
Simple tasks like dressing myself became huge challenges and I needed help from my wife. Traditional chiropractic treatments and physio didn’t yield the results I hoped for. But I wasn’t ready to give up.
A Turning Point
I decided to take matters into my own hands. With determination, I embarked on a personal battle against the odds and Instead of surrendering to pain, I explored alternative ways to regain control over my life. And that’s when I discovered the power of Sandbag functional fitness.
Functional Fitness: My Lifeline
I started with stretching and very light workouts, focusing on strengthening my core. But after about 2 months of basic training i found the one tool that truly transformed my life after i built up some base strength: the fitness sandbag. It became my companion and within just 4 months, something remarkable happened—I reduced my medication intake from over 20 tablets a day to zero.
The pain lessened although never fully gone but I regained my independence. I could dress myself without assistance, and each day felt brighter.

Inspired by my own journey, I decided to create something meaningful. That’s why I founded our fitness brand. Our mission is simple: to support people of all fitness levels and empower those facing health challenges while supporting our valued charities.
